• The World Cup will generate over 9 million tonnes of CO₂ ,equivalent to 6.5 million cars on the road for a year.

• FIFA's main sponsor is Saudi Aramco, the single largest corporate polluter in history.

• Aramco's sponsorship of FIFA could induce an additional 30 million tonnes of CO₂e in 2026 alone through sales linked to promotion of the company.

• In 2025, UN human rights experts formally condemned Aramco for "misleading public relations and greenwashing campaigns," accusing the company of the "largest-ever corporate breach of international climate human rights law."

The LASEC Connection: Sportswashing in LA

The LA Sports & Entertainment Commission (LASEC) is the local engine of sportswashing. They exist to bring mega-events to LA, polishing the image of polluters and war profiteers while claiming to serve the community.

• Palantir Technologies, a company that has a $30 million contract with ICE to build surveillance and deportation infrastructure, has active partnerships with LASEC-affiliated entities.
